The Pest Management Council of the Philippines (PMCP), Inc.

The PMCP management and its co-sponsors wish to announce and invite all PMCP members, patrons and friends to attend the 39th Anniversary and Annual Scientific Conference to be held on 6 – 9 May 2008 at Asturias Hotel, South National Highway, Tiniguiban, Puerto Princesa City, Palawan.

Background

The PMCP, Inc. is composed of three (3) scientific societies; PAE, PPS and WSSP and four (4) associations; CropLife, CPAP, PICMA and PCAP. The three societies are engaged in research, training and extension on pest management. CropLife, CPAP and PICMA are engaged in discovery, development, importation, formulation and distribution of crop protection chemicals while PCAP is engaged in urban pest management.

Call for Papers

The conference program shall consist of plenary sessions in the morning and concurrent scientific sessions in the afternoon. The plenary sessions shall be composed of invited papers dealing with pest management in environmental sustainability and conservation. The scientific sessions will be composed of oral paper and poster presentations (PAE, PPS and WSSP) and shall be open to all participants and guests.

15 January 2008 – Submission of titles and abstracts to the various societies
12 February 2008 – Submission of nominations for the awards to the various societies
19 February 2008
– Societies’ submission of titles and abstracts to PMCP; Societies’ submission of nominations for the various awards to PMCP

A Glimpse of Palawan (Conference Venue)

To the first timers, Palawan is considered to be the Philippines' "last frontier". The province boasts of many splendid beaches and has two (2) UNESCO HYPERLINK "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_Heritage_Site" \o "World Heritage Site" World Heritage Sites: the HYPERLINK "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tubbataha_Reef_National_Marine_Park" \o "Tubbataha Reef National Marine Park" Tubbataha Reef National Marine Park and the Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park.
It is the country’s biggest province and is composed of 1,768 islands and islets surrounded by a coral shelf with an exceptionally rich marine life. Its steeply sloped mountains are canopied by broad virgin forests.
